Renowned singer Roza Alkozha has ignited a national conversation with a candid social media post addressing pressing issues within Kazakh society, focusing on the nation's spirit and identity.

The Importance of National Spirit

Alkozha argues that a weakened national spirit leads to a societal focus on material possessions and superficiality. She believes that without this core spirit, intellectualism and informed discourse suffer, distancing the nation from its post-independence goals of developing its own culture and language.

"What have we done for ideology in over thirty years?" Alkozha questioned. "Why is the generation that grew up in this period so fragmented? Why, to this day, do people living in this country not speak Kazakh and unite as one people under one soil?"

Societal Flaws and Their Roots

The singer attributes societal timidity and fear to the suppression of national pride and the punishment of dissent. She suggests that limited freedom of speech and a lack of informative journalism contribute to the public's preoccupation with daily life, hindering critical thinking.

"A nation whose leaders, visionaries, and eloquent speakers are not valued will be ruled by oppressors," she stated. "The voices of poets and writers who speak the truth are also silent today."

Personal Gain vs. National Future

Alkozha also expressed concern over the state of the healthcare system, noting the high demand for private clinics. She highlighted that only those with financial means can access opportunities, such as singers getting stage time. In her view, personal interests have overshadowed the consideration of the nation's future.

"Who benefits from the national spirit sleeping?" Alkozha concluded. "The nihilism of the nation, its tendency to 'eat each other's flesh,' and its mutual dislike are the fruits of various genocides."

The singer's post has prompted widespread reflection and calls for a renewed examination of critical societal issues.
