Two schoolchildren have tragically drowned in a reservoir in the Talgar district of the Almaty region. The incident occurred near the 'Saz Talgar No. 2' reservoir close to the village of Ostemir.

Emergency services received a report about the incident on Friday, May 8th. Both victims were minors who were reportedly unsupervised at the time of the tragedy. They were near the reservoir, an area not equipped for recreation, when they accidentally fell into the water.

Search and Rescue Operations

Upon receiving the alert, forces and equipment from the Almaty Regional Department of Emergency Situations (DSES) were immediately dispatched to the scene. Search and rescue teams worked to recover the bodies of the two teenagers from the water.

Safety Warning Issued

Following the tragic event, the Almaty Regional DSES has issued a strong warning to the public. They urge citizens to strictly adhere to safety measures around bodies of water, to never leave children unsupervised, and to avoid dangerous areas near reservoirs.

This incident highlights the critical importance of adult supervision for children, especially near potentially hazardous water bodies.
