In the Mangystau region, two suspects have been detained, with large sums of money and more than 100 grams of opium seized, according to infohub.kz.

According to the press service of the regional police department, on August 5, officers of the Department for Countering Extremism of the Mangystau Regional Police Department, coordinated by the regional prosecutor's office, detained two suspects.

During a search of one suspect's car, police found and seized 600,000 tenge. Later, a second suspect was detained, and 480,000 tenge was found in his car.

During a search of a rented apartment in Aktau, 10 bundles and a plastic bag containing a narcotic substance—opium—with a total mass of 100.8 grams were discovered and seized. Also seized were electronic scales, utensils for preparing and using drugs, and 670,000 tenge.

A medical examination confirmed that both detainees were under the influence of drugs. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The suspects have been placed in a temporary detention facility of the Aktau police department.

The investigation is ongoing.
