The reconstruction of the railway station in Aktobe, covering an area of over 7,400 square meters, has been completed, as reported by infohub.kz.

According to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the renovation was carried out under the railway station modernization program. The six-story building, which also has a basement and a technical floor, received a new roof, facade, engineering systems, and interior finishes. The facade is clad with fiber cement panels.

Elevators and escalators have been installed, and new furniture and equipment have been purchased. The reconstruction used materials of Kazakhstani production. In addition, the surrounding area has been improved, and facilities for passengers with reduced mobility have been created.

The Aktobe railway station was built in 1976. Currently, its average daily passenger flow exceeds 4,700 people.

The station serves 34 passenger trains connecting Aktobe with Astana, Almaty, Oral, Mangistau, Beyneu, Taraz, Shu, Shymkent, Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Kokshetau, Kostanay, the Borovoe resort, and Atyrau.

International routes also pass through the station, linking Aktobe with cities in Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

KTZ noted that the reconstruction aims to improve the quality of passenger service, create more comfortable and safe conditions, and update the appearance of the railway infrastructure facility.

Earlier it was reported that in 2026, Kazakhstan will implement the largest railway station modernization program since independence, covering 124 facilities across the country. In parallel, KTZ is expanding the railway network, updating locomotives and passenger cars: since the beginning of the year, the fleet has been replenished with 144 locomotives, and over the next ten years, it is planned to acquire 1,082 units.
