Residents of Almaty have expressed concern over the condition of trees in Atakent Park, posting videos of yellowing plants on social media. Citizens are urging authorities to take action, reports infohub.kz.

A user under the nickname aitenqyzy shared footage on Threads showing the park's greenery withering. "Our Atakent is burning out, it's so sad to see our city park drying up. Please take measures and don't let our trees die," she wrote.

Other residents joined in. In comments, they noted that they had contacted the akimat and Zelenstroy as early as the beginning of summer, but received no response. "I wrote to both the akimat and Zelenstroy at the start of summer; they said they would monitor the situation, but what's the use?" "I also wanted to write about what's been happening at the top of Atakent since last year. Why aren't the trees and pines being watered?" "It's likely an infection or bugs. Unfortunately, the situation with trees across the city is sad," residents shared.

The akimat of Bostandyk district commented on the situation. They explained that the park lacks a stationary irrigation system, so maintenance is done by flooding with motor pumps. "To ensure proper care of green spaces, watering has been intensified using mechanized methods. At night, an additional 5 watering vehicles are deployed for the park. The situation is under control, and watering is being carried out in an enhanced mode," the akimat assured.
