The main air gateway of the southern capital is undergoing another phase of development. Kazakhstan Infrastructure Fund C.V., managed by Qazaqstan Investment Corporation (QIC), is preparing to sell its 15% stake in the airport and exit the project. QIC earlier explained that the decision is not related to the airport's operations but rather the completion of the investment cycle. The fund is exiting after a large-scale modernization. In 2024, the airport opened a new international terminal and VIP terminal, fully upgraded engineering networks and infrastructure. According to QIC, the renovation increased the airport's capacity, improved passenger service quality, and created over a thousand new jobs. The company has not yet disclosed the deal value, potential buyer, or sale timeline.
