On September 8, the Almaty Museum of Arts will open the exhibition "Mүсіндер: Sculpture of Kazakhstan from the 1950s to the Present Day." This event will be one of the highlights of the new season and will coincide with the museum's first anniversary, as reported by infohub.kz.

According to the museum's press service, the exhibition will feature more than 50 works. Among the artists are Khakimzhan Nauryzbaev, Isaac Itkind, Yerkin Mergenov, Rysbek Akhmetov, Moldakul Narymbetov, and Aida Adilbek.

The exhibition will trace the evolution of Kazakh sculpture over the past 70 years. Visitors will see both academic works from the Soviet period and pieces by contemporary artists.

The exhibition is divided into four thematic sections, in which artists address themes of the human, family, memory, history, and national identity. Special attention is paid to the changing materials and artistic language of sculptors.

"Mүсін" in Kazakh means both "sculpture" and "human figure." Therefore, the human image will be the main protagonist of the exhibition.

The curator of the project is Doctor of Art History Aliya Tizengauzen. According to her, the exhibition aims to show sculpture not as a static art form but as a living process that evolves with society.

The exhibition will run from September 8, 2026, to May 2027. An illustrated catalog in Kazakh, Russian, and English will also be published for the project.

The exhibition's partner is Atasu Group. According to the company's founder Marat Zhuman, the project brings together different generations and reflects changes in the country through art.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Last entry is at 9:00 PM. A standard ticket costs 2,000 tenge, and a reduced ticket costs 500 tenge.

It is worth noting that recently, holders of Visa cards from any bank worldwide can receive a 10% discount on entrance tickets and on purchases at the museum's official store over 15,000 tenge. The offer applies to all current exhibitions at the museum.
