In Astana, doctors at the National Scientific Medical Center (UMC) successfully transplanted a heart into a 60-year-old man. The donor organ was delivered and transplanted within hours after obtaining consent from the deceased's family, according to the website infohub.kz.

According to the Ministry of Health, a potential donor was identified on the night of July 14–15 at the Multidisciplinary Medical Center. After the relatives gave their approval, the entire donor process was organized. The recipient, a man born in 1966, had been on the waiting list for a long time. Doctors note that his condition is consistent with the postoperative period.

The Ministry of Health thanked the donor's family for their decision, all medical staff who carried out the transplant, and the medical aviation personnel who quickly transported the heart to the capital.

According to the ministry, over 4,700 people in Kazakhstan are waiting for life-saving organ transplants, including 125 children. Of these, 4,208 need a kidney transplant, 293 a liver, 208 a heart, 30 lungs, and 5 a heart-lung complex. 'Each consent to posthumous donation is a chance to save the lives of people for whom transplantation remains the only treatment,' the ministry emphasized.

Earlier, it was reported that the Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Diseases in Almaty performed a series of minimally invasive surgeries on patients with severe mitral regurgitation using TEER technology. The interventions were performed on a beating heart without opening the chest or using artificial circulation.
