In the Akmola region, a bus driver whose vehicle had been illegally converted to include sleeping berths came to police attention after making a false report about a bribe. The incident occurred on August 18 on the Astana-Karaganda-Almaty highway, according to infohub.kz.

Patrol police officers stopped a Van Hool bus for a document check. During inspection, they discovered that the interior had been modified: instead of the original seating, sleeping berths had been installed. The driver was issued an administrative citation for the illegal conversion.

According to preliminary information, the driver was en route from Shymkent to Astana. After the citation was issued, he expressed dissatisfaction with the officers' actions. Some time later, a call to the special line 102 claimed that the patrol officers had broken the law and accepted a 5,000 tenge bribe from the driver.

Police acted on the report. During the investigation, they located the bus and stopped it for questioning. The driver initially denied making the call and even disposed of the SIM card used for the call. However, police were able to determine that the call to the special line had indeed come from him.

Subsequently, the driver admitted that he had made the call out of anger over the citation. He said he acted in a fit of rage. An administrative protocol was drawn up against him for knowingly making a false report to emergency services.

Police reminded that line 102 is intended for reports of real incidents and offenses. Knowingly false reports can lead to administrative liability as provided by law.
