In the Akmola region, a bus driver fined for modifying his vehicle decided to take revenge on patrol officers by reporting them for bribery. The man claimed that the police had allegedly received 5,000 tenge from him, but an investigation showed the accusation was false, reports infohub.kz.
The incident occurred on August 18 on the Astana – Karaganda – Almaty highway. Patrol officers stopped a Van Hool bus for a document check. During inspection, it was found that the vehicle's interior had been modified: sleeping places had been installed instead of the seats provided by the design.
The driver, who was traveling from Shymkent to Astana, was issued an administrative citation. The man was dissatisfied with the police actions and decided to get even.
Soon, a call was made to the "102" line claiming that the patrol officers had taken 5,000 tenge from him. Law enforcement launched an investigation and soon located the bus.
"The driver initially denied calling '102'. Moreover, he managed to throw away the SIM card from which the call was made. However, during the investigation, police were able to establish that the message to the special line came from him. Later, the man admitted that he did it out of revenge after being cited," police said.
The driver now faces liability for knowingly making a false report to special services. An administrative protocol has been drawn up against him.
The police remind that the "102" line is intended for reporting real incidents and offenses. Knowingly false calls entail administrative liability.
Earlier, a video circulated on social media showing a man claiming he obtained Kazakh citizenship for a bribe. The Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a check and found it to be fake, with the author being a foreigner.
