In Almaty, a Canadian citizen insulted an English-speaking woman in Russian at one of the city's establishments, after which he was arrested for five days, reports infohub.kz.

A video appeared on the Threads page of user Kzo_travel showing a man rudely addressing a foreign woman. The post said the woman complained about insults from a man sitting nearby. According to her, he was probably not local or had recently moved. She began filming the incident for safety reasons, then hid behind the bar and cried, feeling unsafe in a public place.

The footage shows the man using profanity several times while addressing the woman in Russian, while she responds in English, pointing out his aggressive behavior.

A NUR.KZ correspondent sent a request to the press service of the Almaty Police Department. They explained that the incident occurred near one of the establishments on Abylai Khan Avenue. During the investigation, the man's identity was established — he turned out to be a Canadian citizen. Administrative proceedings were initiated against him for petty hooliganism. By court decision, he was subjected to administrative arrest for 5 days.
