The price index in Kazakhstan's construction sector stood at 100.4% in September 2026 compared with August, while since the start of the year it has risen to 109.8% relative to December 2025, according to data from the Bureau of National Statistics, infohub.kz reports.
Construction and installation works rose in line with the overall index: 100.4% for the month and 110.2% compared with December of last year. In the machinery and equipment segment, costs edged down slightly, with the index falling to 99.9% for the month and to 98.8% since the start of the year. Other works and expenditures rose to 100.1% compared with August and to 115.5% compared with December 2025.
A cubic meter of natural sand for construction work cost organizations 9,105 tenge. A tonne of general-purpose Portland cement grade M400 cost 51,105 tenge. A tonne of sheet steel up to four millimeters thick reached 429,309 tenge, while a cubic meter of crushed stone from natural stone was valued at 10,940 tenge.
The price indices are compiled by the Department of Price Statistics based on data from the reporting form on prices for purchased construction materials and structures.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that construction could become more expensive in Kazakhstan due to a shortage of building materials. In the first eight months of 2026, construction growth stood at 15.6% year on year, compared with 18.1% in the same period of 2025. At the same time, 54% of all construction work was accounted for by the construction of structures, which grew by 20% over the year.
