The prosecutor's office of Birzhan sal district identified a violation of personal data protection legislation during an analysis of local regulatory legal acts. This work is ongoing and aims to ensure citizens' constitutional rights, reports infohub.kz.
It was found that a decision of the district maslikhat dated December 25, 2024, No. S-18/3, approved a Pasture Management Plan. The document, which was made publicly available, contained personal data of nearly 2,000 land users. The published information included full names, individual identification numbers (IIN), business identification numbers (BIN), as well as details about land plots with cadastral numbers and areas.
According to the prosecutor's office, such disclosure of information contradicts Article 21 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the provisions of the law 'On Personal Data and Their Protection.' Moreover, it created risks of unlawful use of data, including potential fraudulent activities.
As a result of the prosecutor's response, the maslikhat decision was revoked. This prevented further dissemination of personal data and protected the rights of a significant number of citizens.
The department emphasized that work to identify and suppress violations affecting the rights and legitimate interests of the population will continue.
