In Kazakhstan, car owners can now file a traffic accident without calling the traffic police and receive an insurance payout of up to 600 monthly calculation indices (MCI), which amounts to 2.595 million tenge. According to infohub.kz, this became possible thanks to the voluntary civil liability insurance 'Tulpar'.
Under the standard compulsory insurance policy for vehicle owners (OSGPO), when filing an accident under the Europrotocol, the payout is limited to 100 MCI (432.5 thousand tenge). If the damage exceeds this amount, the difference usually has to be compensated by the at-fault driver out of pocket. The voluntary insurance contract 'Tulpar' provides for an additional payment, allowing the total compensation to increase to 600 MCI.
The Europrotocol can be used under the following conditions: only two cars were involved in the accident; no one was injured; both drivers have valid OSGPO policies; the drivers agree on the circumstances of the accident and have determined the at-fault and injured parties.
After the incident, the injured party must file a claim through the DTP.kz service in the Freedom SuperApp. The payout under OSGPO will be up to 100 MCI, and if a 'Tulpar' contract is in place, the insurance company will additionally compensate for damage within another 500 MCI.
Filing an accident under the Europrotocol allows you to avoid calling the police. According to the insurer, this option also exempts you from paying a fine and reduces the decrease in the 'bonus-malus' insurance class compared to standard accident filing.
Currently, the 'Tulpar' voluntary insurance contract can be obtained for free when you independently apply for OSGPO through the Freedom SuperApp. The offer does not apply to cases where a promo code is used under the referral program.
Thus, additional insurance allows the at-fault driver not to pay out of pocket for damage exceeding the OSGPO limit, and the injured party can receive up to 600 MCI in compensation without calling the police.
