The coroner's office in Greenville County has not yet determined the exact cause of death for actress Hayden Panettiere, and further tests are needed, according to infohub.kz.
Preliminary autopsy results released Monday found no signs of trauma that could have caused her death. The official cause and manner of death remain pending until further investigation and additional studies are completed.
Panettiere was found unconscious at a home in Greenville, South Carolina, where she was staying temporarily. Emergency services arrived after a 911 call. Paramedics found the 36-year-old actress in cardiac arrest and began resuscitation efforts, but she could not be saved.
Greenville police and the coroner's office have launched separate investigations into the circumstances. A representative for the actress confirmed her death and said the investigation is ongoing. Her father has asked for privacy for the family during this difficult time.
"With deep sadness, we announce the tragic death of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredibly bright person and a true force of nature who brought love and joy to everyone who knew her, as well as to millions of fans," Skip Panettiere told ABC News.
Panettiere began her career as a child. She gained widespread fame for her roles as Claire Bennet in "Heroes" and Juliette Barnes in "Nashville." She also appeared in films such as "Remember the Titans," "Ice Princess," and "Scream 4."
In May 2026, the actress released her memoir, "This Is Me: A Reckoning," in which she discussed her experiences, including postpartum depression, addiction, recovery, trauma, and loss.
Panettiere was the mother of a daughter, Kaya, born in 2014 to the actress and her former fiancé, boxer Wladimir Klitschko. The actress would have turned 37 on August 21.
