A bill on sanctions against Russia, developed with the participation of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, has been officially sent to the US House of Representatives, reports infohub.kz.
Republican Congressman Michael McCaul announced this, noting that the text of the document is identical to the version approved by the Senate. The initiative was submitted to the lower house of Congress on behalf of 18 lawmakers.
Last week, the US Senate approved the bill on 'hellish sanctions' against Russia by a overwhelming majority (68 to 9). The project provides for the introduction of 100% tariffs on goods from the five largest buyer countries of Russian energy resources and 500% tariffs on all imports from Russia to the US.
The document also contains exceptions for states that account for less than 15% of annual Russian gas exports, provided they reduce their purchases. In addition, the bill imposes sanctions on the Bank of Russia, Sberbank, VTB, and Gazprombank, and instructs US President Donald Trump to ensure a complete ban on imports of Russian uranium, including products from Rosatom, and to regularly impose restrictions against the leadership of the state corporation.
