No sharp outflow of specialists from Kazakhstan's media sector is expected in the near future, although artificial intelligence will gradually replace some jobs. First Vice Minister of Culture and Information Kanat Iskakov said this on the sidelines of Astana Media Week, according to infohub.kz.
The vice minister acknowledged that AI's impact on the labor market is inevitable. However, he said the ministry does not expect difficulties in the near term, since the process will not happen all at once.
"It is clear that artificial intelligence will replace the labor market. But at this stage we do not expect a large outflow, since this will happen gradually," Kanat Iskakov said.
Iskakov is confident that neural networks will not be able to fully replace journalists. According to him, AI cannot convey the soul or take responsibility for the text.
"At this stage, one cannot say that artificial intelligence will leave us all without work. But in the future we need to think about it," the vice minister noted.
Meanwhile, in Kazakhstan over ten years the number of registered media outlets has grown from 2,900 to more than 5,400. At the same time, nearly 40% of citizens now get news from social networks and messengers.
