In Kazakhstan, erroneously issued speeding fines on highways have been identified. As reported by infohub.kz, the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that all such decisions will be automatically canceled, and a mechanism for refunding already paid amounts is being developed.
The technical glitch occurred in the 'ERAP' information system of the Prosecutor General's Office between August 13 and 14. Due to the error, some average speed violations were mistakenly recorded as exceeding the instantaneous speed.
Chairman of the Administrative Police Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Murat Kabdenov explained: 'As a result, some average speed violations were mistakenly recorded as exceeding the instantaneous speed.'
The department emphasized that drivers do not need to contact the police or prove the erroneousness of the fines themselves. 'All erroneously generated orders have been identified and will be automatically canceled,' Kabdenov added.
It is noted that this applies only to orders issued due to the specified technical glitch. Work to eliminate its consequences is ongoing.
Those who have already paid such fines are promised a refund. 'Currently, a mechanism for refunding paid funds is being developed. The situation is under control,' the committee head concluded.
