A resident of the Zhetisu region faced a restaurant's refusal to refund a large sum for a canceled celebration, but thanks to the intervention of specialists, she managed to restore justice, reports infohub.kz.

According to the Committee for Consumer Rights Protection of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, the woman had booked a restaurant in advance for a family celebration and paid a deposit of 1 million tenge. However, due to family circumstances, the event had to be canceled, and she notified the entrepreneur about two months before the scheduled date.

Despite such an early warning, the restaurant owner refused to return the money, insisting that the paid amount was a non-refundable deposit. At the same time, as the consumer noted, no written contract was concluded between the parties, and the conditions for non-refund in case of cancellation were not agreed upon in advance.

Unable to resolve the conflict on her own, the woman turned to the Department of Trade and Consumer Rights Protection for the Zhetisu region. The department's specialists examined the circumstances and helped protect the consumer's rights. A claim was sent to the entrepreneur demanding the return of the money and proposing to resolve the issue in a pre-trial order.

As a result, the restaurant owner voluntarily returned the full amount of 1 million tenge to the woman.
