In the East Kazakhstan region, a young man transferred a total of 6.6 million tenge hoping to obtain a driver's license, but ended up with nothing, reports infohub.kz.
According to the regional police department's press service, a resident of Zaysan, born in 2005, filed a complaint stating that an acquaintance, under the pretext of processing a driver's license, took possession of his funds amounting to over 6 million tenge.
The victim said that in February this year, he resumed contact with the acquaintance, who was serving compulsory military service in one of the military units in the Almaty region. During correspondence, the man claimed he worked at a specialized service center (SpetsTsON) in Almaty and could help with obtaining a driver's license.
Believing the promises, the complainant first transferred the agreed amount for the document. Subsequently, under various pretexts, the suspect repeatedly asked for additional money. As a result, the victim transferred over 6.6 million tenge, part of which was sent to accounts of unknown individuals. A pre-trial investigation is underway.
