Police in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan have deployed a robot dog equipped with artificial intelligence for the first time, helping to identify four offenders in a crowd. As infohub.kz reports, citing Polisia.kz, the new technology identified four lawbreakers during two days of mass events. The robot was tested at the Metallurgist Day celebrations in Balkhash and Temirtau.

On July 17-18, more than 115,000 people attended the events. To ensure security, police shifted personnel to enhanced duty and deployed over 1,000 officers.

The robot dog, integrated with police databases, can recognize faces in real time, enabling faster identification of wanted individuals and prevention of offenses.

During its deployment, the robot helped find four individuals: an alimony debtor, two citizens with state debts, and a previously convicted man who violated a court-ordered ban on leaving his home. Legal measures have been taken against all offenders.

Additionally, police located and returned 87 lost children aged 3 to 17 to their parents.

Police say the use of robotic technology marks another step in the digital transformation of the internal affairs ministry. According to the department, such solutions improve public order protection and citizen safety to a new level.

Earlier reports said police robots patrol shopping malls and railway stations in Astana, while robot dogs have been deployed on the streets of Aktau.
