Since the launch of the 'National Fund – for Children' program, Kazakhstanis have received payments totaling $67.8 million, with the majority of these funds directed towards improving housing conditions – nearly $45.2 million, reports infohub.kz.

The 'National Fund – for Children' program has been operating in Kazakhstan for three years now. Under this initiative, all minors under 18 receive a portion of the National Fund's investment income annually. In the first year, $100.52 was accrued, in the second – $129.38, and in the third – $130.71. Thus, children who have participated since the beginning have accumulated $370.56.

Funds from the National Fund can be used by Kazakhstanis after reaching 18 years of age. The money can be directed towards two purposes: improving housing conditions or paying for education.

According to the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund (UAPF), from February 1, 2024, to August 1, 2026, 338,252 people received their funds from the National Fund, totaling over $67.8 million. Most often, the money was used for housing purposes – nearly $45.2 million, accounting for about 66.65% of the total amount. For education, $22.6 million was allocated (33.35%).

Among housing purposes, the most popular was topping up a housing construction savings deposit for further accumulation – 100,091 recipients did this, totaling $25.34 million. Making an initial contribution for an mortgage housing loan was chosen by 671 people, spending $150.96 thousand. Purchasing housing as property under civil law transactions with final settlement was done by 375 recipients, totaling $85.64 thousand.

In the education sector, the most common was paying for tuition at Kazakhstani educational institutions – 39,060 recipients spent about $10.18 million. Topping up an educational savings deposit was done by 1,597 people, totaling $390.73 thousand. Paying for education at foreign educational institutions was chosen by 597 recipients, spending $145.88 thousand.

It should be recalled that Kazakhstanis have 10 years after reaching adulthood to use the 'children's' money for housing or education. After this period, the funds will be redirected to a voluntary pension account in the UAPF.

It is also worth noting that funds from the National Fund are only available to citizens of Kazakhstan. If a person has lived in the country all their life and then renounced citizenship, they lose the right to use these funds. However, 'children's' money can be inherited, and in such a case, the restriction on using the funds disappears.
