Kyzylorda is simultaneously upgrading its trade infrastructure and tightening price controls. New trade houses worth a total of 5 billion tenge are being built at the markets "Sybaga", "Asbol", and "Talgat", and in the first six months of 2026, investments in the region's trade sector reached 21.6 billion tenge, reports infohub.kz.
The market modernization is carried out in accordance with the Roadmap for Market Modernization. The work covers three major city facilities at once.
"At the Talgat market, construction is nearing completion. The renovated facility is expected to be put into operation soon. Work at the Sybaga and Asbol markets is ongoing, with completion scheduled by the end of this year," the Kazakh Ministry of Trade reported.
Meanwhile, investment activity in the trade sector remains strong. According to the Bureau of National Statistics, in January–June 2026, investments in fixed capital in this sector amounted to 21.6 billion tenge.
Another focus is controlling prices for socially significant food products. Information and explanatory work is being carried out with entrepreneurs, including on liability for unjustified price increases.
"Based on the results of the first six months of 2026, the average price index for socially significant food products in the region was 101.3%. This is 0.6 percentage points below the national average," the ministry noted.
Since the beginning of the year, the Kyzylorda region has seen a decrease in the cost of eight types of socially significant products. These include rice, buckwheat, fish, cheese, eggs, sunflower oil, cucumbers, and tomatoes.
Alongside explanatory work, the department conducts control measures aimed at compliance with trade legislation and preventing unjustified price increases.
Over six months, inspections were carried out on 113 business entities. Violations were found in 86 of them.
"Among the violations is non-compliance with the established 15% trade margin on socially significant food products. In addition, specialists identified cases of improper labeling of price tags and other information about the cost of goods in accordance with legal requirements," the department said.
Following inspections, in accordance with Article 204-4 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses, 44 business entities were brought to responsibility. Administrative fines totaling 1.329 million tenge were imposed, and corresponding orders were issued to entrepreneurs.
Another 42 business entities were held liable under Article 193-4 of the Administrative Code for improper labeling of prices. The total amount of fines for these violations was 544 thousand tenge.
By the end of the year, the city plans to complete the renovation of two markets, while the modernized Talgat market is expected to open soon.
