In the East Kazakhstan region, a scandal erupted around Lake Zaisan: vacationers were burying trash right in the sand. The situation drew public attention after a complaint on social media, reports infohub.kz.
A user under the nickname Zhaneka1408 posted on Threads about violations on the lake's shore. According to her, in the village of Baitogas there are about 40-50 yurts, whose owners do not bother to haul away waste but simply bury it in pits nearby. She called for a check into the legality of the owners' actions.
The Police Department of the East Kazakhstan region responded to the appeal. Law enforcement officers said that work is constantly being done to prevent violations of landscaping rules and pollution of public places in recreation areas. Since the beginning of the summer season, six yurt owners have been brought to administrative responsibility for violations at the specified site. In addition, orders have been sent to authorized bodies to eliminate the causes and conditions contributing to violations.
The press service of the East Kazakhstan region akimat also commented on the situation. According to MIA "Kazinform", during the inspection, the sanitary condition of the territory was assessed and violations were identified. Several dozen people bore responsibility. "Administrative protocols have been drawn up for the identified violations. 26 people received warnings, and three more were brought to administrative responsibility in the form of a fine under Article 505 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan 'On Administrative Offenses'," the press service of the akimat of the East Kazakhstan region reported.
At the same time, sanitary cleaning was organized on the coast. Entrepreneurs and local residents were involved. The pits were cleaned, household waste was collected and removed, and the territory was put in order.
