Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have become the owners of Strancally Castle, located in County Waterford in the southeast of Ireland, according to infohub.kz.

The residence sits on the banks of the River Blackwater, about 200 kilometers from Meta's European headquarters in Dublin. It is a three-story building with an area of approximately 1,500 square meters, surrounded by 178 hectares of land with forest, gardens, and a boat dock. The castle was built between 1825 and 1835.

The purchase price has not been disclosed, but experts estimate it could be between 20 and 30 million euros. The seller was Michael Alen-Buckley, co-founder of the London-based private investment firm RAB Capital.

As journalists note, Zuckerberg and his wife had long been looking for a home in Ireland. Zuckerberg's spokesman, Brian Baker, confirmed that Mark and his family are delighted to have the opportunity to care for this historic home and spend time in Ireland, where Meta has its international headquarters. The company employs about 1,500 people in Dublin and Cork, and operates a data center in Clonee.

Recall that in March of this year, Zuckerberg also purchased a mega-mansion for $170 million on the private Indian Creek Island near Miami, which is often called the "billionaire bunker." Against the backdrop of that purchase, the Irish castle looks like a bargain.
