New York City Mayor Eric Adams is examining the legal basis for potentially arresting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the city, reports infohub.kz.

In an interview with The New York Times, Adams said he is not crafting new laws but acting within existing legal frameworks. "We will do everything the law allows me to do in New York City, but we won't write our own laws for this purpose... There's active discussion with our legal department," he stated. He raised the possibility of Netanyahu's arrest should the prime minister attend the UN General Assembly in New York.

Adams also cited war crimes allegations against Netanyahu by the International Criminal Court. During his mayoral campaign, Adams had pledged to order the NYPD to arrest Netanyahu if he came to New York.
