In Shymkent, neurosurgeons saved a 38-year-old woman from a dangerous brain aneurysm using a modern bloodless method. The operation, costing over 6 million tenge, was performed at the state's expense, reports infohub.kz.
According to doctors, the patient had long suffered from severe headaches. After an MRI, it was found that she had a cerebral aneurysm.
The high-tech procedure was carried out at Shymkent City Hospital No. 2. Instead of open surgery, doctors used an endovascular method: a special device was inserted through a blood vessel, and a stent was placed in the aneurysm area.
The operation was performed by neurosurgeon Yerkin Medetov. He noted that the patient's condition is currently stable and she is under medical supervision.
City officials emphasized that the cost of such an operation exceeds 6 million tenge, but for the resident of Shymkent, the surgical intervention was free of charge based on medical indications.
Earlier it was reported that in Ust-Kamenogorsk, doctors performed a complex operation on a patient who survived cardiac arrest. The young man arrived at the clinic in serious condition, and during the operation his heart stopped, but doctors managed to save him.
Additionally, the cardiac center in Almaty has seen a twofold increase in surgeries under mandatory social health insurance, and funding for cardiac surgery in the metropolis has grown almost fourfold.
