The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has announced new immigration measures that will affect recipients of government benefits, foreign students, exchange program participants, and journalists, reports the website infohub.kz.
Starting September 18, receiving certain government benefits, including Medicaid and food stamps, may again become grounds for denial of a green card. Additionally, visa rules for foreign students, exchange program participants, and journalists are being changed.
Student and exchange visas will be issued for a maximum of four years, while journalist visas will be valid for up to 240 days. For citizens of China, the stay period is reduced to 90 days. Also, graduates will have their post-graduation stay period in the U.S. reduced from 60 to 30 days.
