US President Donald Trump has explained why he prefers to strike a deal with Iran rather than use military force. He also admitted that the US was recently ready to carry out its largest attack, reports infohub.kz.
The American leader made the remarks during an event at the White House, which was streamed on the official residence account on YouTube.
Trump said he prefers a deal because he does not want to see people killed. "I would rather make a deal because I don't want to kill people. I don't want to kill people, but at some point we were ready for the biggest attack," the White House chief said.
According to him, it was to be the largest since World War II. "And they called me and said: 'Please don't do this. Let's talk,'" Trump said.
Earlier, Donald Trump said that the current negotiations with Iran are their "last chance" to sign an agreement. The US president also said that Iran will never have nuclear weapons, and threatened new strikes if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened.
The day before, Trump said that within the next day or two it will become known whether progress has been made in negotiations with Iran.
