Former Spartak Moscow footballer Vladislav Duyun has died at the age of 49 after a long illness, according to infohub.kz.

The Russian champion, who won the title with Spartak Moscow, passed away at 49. His older brother Vladimir confirmed the news, saying Duyun had been battling pancreatic cancer for about a year and a half.

“Vladislav died this morning; he had pancreatic cancer. He fought it for about a year and a half. He leaves behind three children aged 14, 16, and 18. He raised them alone after his wife died 11 years ago, also from cancer,” Vladimir Duyun said.

He added that after his wife's death, Vladislav devoted himself to raising his children and briefly worked with youth. “Vlad was a good guy; all his teammates always spoke well of him. He worked with young players for a time, but after his wife died, he focused on the kids,” the athlete's brother said.

Vladislav Duyun played for Spartak Moscow in 1996–1997, becoming Russian champion. He later played for Lokomotiv Nizhny Novgorod, Rostselmash, Baltika, and other clubs.
