Volkswagen Group has announced a large-scale service campaign to recall more than 2.1 million vehicles worldwide, according to infohub.kz.
The campaign was reported by the German automobile organization ADAC. The reason is a possible defect in the steering mechanism mounting, which in the worst cases could impair the steering system's operation.
"The problem involves a threaded connection in the steering mechanism — under certain conditions, including corrosion, the fastening element may loosen and fail," the statement said.
In the most unfavorable scenario, this could cause deteriorated handling or complete steering failure, increasing the risk of a traffic accident.
As part of the campaign, service centers will invite owners of Volkswagen Golf, Golf Variant, Tiguan, Touran, and Caddy vehicles produced from September 2013 to July 2024, as well as Audi Q3 vehicles manufactured from October 2017 to May 2024.
