Father of Accused Denies Violence in Family's Tragic Deaths

A courtroom in Atyrau heard emotional testimony today as the father of the primary suspect in a high-profile family death case spoke out. Sultan Sarsenmaliyev, 29, stands accused in the deaths of his wife, Akbayan Mukangaliyeva, and three other family members: Maksot Karabalin, Nasip Uteshkalieva, and Nauryz Mukangaliyev, and Meirangul Karabalin.

Father's Testimony

Appearing as a witness, Samigolla Sarsenmaliyev, the accused's father, described his son as the youngest of four children. He stated that Sultan had always treated his family members with respect and denied any history of aggression.

"My son never showed aggression towards his children or his wife. There were no conflicts between them. Sultan always treated his family members politely," the elder Sarsenmaliyev told the court.

Court Proceedings

The proceedings took an emotional turn when Sultan Sarsenmaliyev became visibly distressed upon seeing his father enter the courtroom. Despite his tears, when asked by Judge Zarema Khamidullina about his well-being, he responded that he was "doing well." The elder Sarsenmaliyev, who has hearing difficulties and mobility issues due to a leg injury, was carefully assisted into the courtroom.

The Charges

The case, being heard at the Specialized Court for Criminal Cases of Atyrau Region, involves serious charges against Sultan Sarsenmaliyev. The full extent of the accusations includes the deaths of Maksot Karabalin, Nasip Uteshkalieva, Nauryz Mukangaliyev, and Meirangul Karabalin.
