Kazakhstan and Russia Conduct Joint Air Defense Exercise

Kazakhstan and Russia are set to conduct joint air defense exercises between February 20 and March 10. This planned drill aims to bolster the operational capabilities and combat readiness of both nations' air defense forces.

Objective of the Drills

The primary goal of the exercise is to practice intercepting and tracking unidentified aerial objects. Participants will focus on simulating scenarios involving the apprehension of airspace violators and forcing them to land at designated airfields.

According to the Ministry of Defense, these drills are designed to improve interoperability, enhance combat skills, and raise the overall preparedness of air defense units on duty.

Public Advisory

The Ministry of Defense urges the public and media representatives to rely solely on official information sources and to refrain from spreading misinformation regarding the exercises.

This joint training follows a recent incident where a Russian Su-30 multirole fighter jet made an unscheduled landing at Khivaz Dospanova International Airport in Atyrau.
