Kazakhstan is on alert as a significant weather deterioration is expected across the country on April 15th. Forecasters are issuing storm warnings for widespread rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and even hail in many areas, with potential for localized flooding.

Nationwide Weather Alert

The national weather service, Kazhydromet, has announced that most regions will experience a sharp change in weather conditions. Residents can expect rain, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. In the northern parts of the country, the rain may transition into snow.

Major Cities Affected

In the capital city of Astana, rain is forecast for the end of the day, potentially turning into snow. Winds are expected to shift from the southwest to the northeast, with speeds reaching 15-20 m/s.

Almaty will also see rain and thunderstorms towards the evening. The wind, blowing from the southeast, could intensify to 18 m/s during the day. The mountainous areas of the Ile-Alatau region may also experience rainfall.

Shymkent is bracing for intermittent rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds gusting up to 15-20 m/s.

Regional Forecasts

The western and northern parts of the Ulytau region are anticipating heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds. Jezkazgan will experience thunderstorms and rain.

Atyrau region, particularly its western, northern, and southern areas, is forecast to have heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and storm-force winds. Wind speeds could reach 23-28 m/s in some locations. Atyrau city itself can expect rain and thunderstorms overnight.

In Karaganda region, fog is predicted for the morning and daytime in the western, northern, and eastern parts, accompanied by rain and thunderstorms. Karaganda city will see rain and thunderstorms by the end of the day.

Mangystau region is expecting rain and thunderstorms, with some areas likely to experience heavy rain, hail, and strong winds. Aktau is forecast to have similar weather conditions.

Eastern Kazakhstan region's western, northern, and eastern sections will receive precipitation in the form of rain and snow. In Abai region, wind gusts are expected to reach 15-20 m/s.

Akmola region will experience precipitation (rain and snow) throughout the night and day. The western and southern areas may face heavy rain, hail, and fog. Wind speeds could reach up to 25 m/s.

The mountainous areas of Turkistan region are warned of heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds. The northern part of the region might experience dust storms. Turkistan city is also expected to have rain and thunderstorms.

Aqtobe region's southern, eastern, and central parts are forecast for heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds. Aqtobe city will also see thunderstorms and rain.

Western Kazakhstan region's western and southern areas will encounter rain, thunderstorms, and hail. Oral city is expected to have thunderstorms during the day.

In Pavlodar region, the western, southern, and eastern areas will experience overnight precipitation (rain and snow), fog, and icy conditions. Pavlodar city will see wind gusts of 15-20 m/s.

Kostanay region's northwestern and southern parts are predicted to have rain and thunderstorms. Kostanay city may experience fog during the night and early morning.

North Kazakhstan region will have precipitation (rain and snow) and icy conditions throughout the night and day. Petropavlovsk city is expected to have fog overnight and in the early morning.

The mountainous areas of Zhambyl region are bracing for heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds. Taraz city is also forecast to have rain and thunderstorms.

Kyzylorda region is anticipating rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and dust storms. Kyzylorda city will experience similar weather conditions overnight and in the early morning.
