Kazakhstan Braces for Thunderstorms, Hail, and Strong Winds

Residents across Kazakhstan, including the capital city of Astana, are advised to prepare for severe weather conditions on April 29th. The national weather service, Kazhydromet, has issued storm warnings for multiple regions, forecasting thunderstorms, hail, and significantly increased wind speeds.

Capital City Under Threat

In Astana, overnight temperatures are expected to drop to near freezing, with surface frost reaching up to 1 degree Celsius. This sharp temperature change follows recent milder weather, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the spring season.

Regional Weather Alerts

Across the country, varied weather patterns are anticipated. Akmola region's western and northern areas can expect rain and thunderstorms in the morning and afternoon, while eastern parts may experience frost down to 1 degree Celsius overnight.

Aktobe region faces potential fog in its western and central areas during the night and morning. Frost up to 2 degrees Celsius is predicted for western and northern parts, with a high fire risk in the south.

Eastern Kazakhstan is bracing for northwesterly winds reaching 15-20 m/s, accompanied by overnight frosts of up to 3 degrees Celsius in the north and east.

In the mountainous areas of Zhambyl region, daytime thunderstorms are likely, with fog possible in the early hours. Winds will be from the northeast, with gusts up to 15-20 m/s in specific zones.

West Kazakhstan will see morning and afternoon rain and thunderstorms in the northwest. Fog is possible in western, northern, and eastern areas. Wind speeds could reach 15-20 m/s in the west and north during the day, with frosts up to 3 degrees Celsius in the north and east.

Karaganda region anticipates winds up to 15 m/s from the northeast and east in the south, with overnight frosts of up to 1 degree Celsius in the eastern part.

Kostanay region's western and northern areas, as well as the city of Kostanay itself, are forecast to experience rain and thunderstorms during the night and morning.

A high fire risk is noted in the eastern part of Kyzylorda region.

Mangystau region may see daytime rain, thunderstorms, and hail in its southern and eastern parts. Fog is possible in the northeast. Winds from the northeast could gust up to 15-18 m/s in the south and central areas. Aktau city will experience daytime rain and thunderstorms.

Abay region will have winds from the northeast and east, with gusts up to 15-20 m/s, potentially reaching 25 m/s in some areas. Overnight frosts of up to 2 degrees Celsius are expected in western and central parts, with a high fire risk in the central area.

Jetisu region's eastern parts will experience winds from the northeast, with gusts reaching 15-20 m/s, sometimes up to 25 m/s. Extreme fire risk persists in the eastern and southern areas.

Pavlodar region's eastern areas might see overnight frosts down to 1 degree Celsius, while the northern region faces a high fire risk.

North Kazakhstan region's western and northern parts are predicted to have morning and afternoon rain and thunderstorms. Fog may occur in the southern areas overnight and in the morning. Winds from the south and southwest could gust up to 15-20 m/s in western, northern, and eastern areas during the day. The western region has a high fire risk.

Turkistan region's mountainous areas are expecting short-term rain, thunderstorms, and squalls during the day, with winds from the northeast reaching 15-20 m/s in the highlands.
