Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has provided an update on the situation involving a Kazakhstani citizen detained in Germany on suspicion of espionage for Russia. The ministry has formally reached out to the relevant German authorities for information and is awaiting a response.

This development follows an announcement by the German Federal Public Prosecutor's Office. On April 28, a citizen of Kazakhstan was apprehended in Berlin. The individual is suspected of working in the interests of a foreign intelligence service.

Investigation Underway

The detained Kazakhstani national was reportedly brought before an investigating judge on April 29. A decision regarding pre-trial detention measures was expected to be made.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the case is under their close observation as they seek clarification from German officials. The situation remains a priority for the ministry as they gather more details surrounding the arrest.
