Kazakhstan Weather Alert: Snowfall Expected as Cold Snap Recedes

Kazakhstan is set to experience significant snowfall and rain starting February 14th, as a powerful northwest cyclone sweeps across the country. While the precipitation will bring wintery conditions, it also heralds a welcome shift as temperatures are expected to gradually rise, pushing back the current cold snap.

Nationwide Weather Shifts

The approaching cyclone, moving eastward, is forecast to cause widespread precipitation in the form of rain and snow. This weather system will also trigger blizzards in many areas, contributing to the anticipated increase in temperatures. This shift is expected to be most pronounced from February 15th onwards.

Southern and Southeastern Forecast

Residents in the southern and southeastern regions of Kazakhstan can expect unsettled weather throughout the forecast period. Atmospheric front waves, linked to a southern cyclone's trough, will bring continuous rain and snow. Heavy precipitation is particularly anticipated on February 14th and 15th.

General Conditions Across Kazakhstan

Across the entire country, strong winds, icy road conditions (black ice), and fog are predicted. The overall outlook for February suggests a warmer-than-average month with precipitation levels near the norm. For much of Kazakhstan, average temperatures are expected to be 1-2 degrees Celsius above the climatic average.
