MangistauMunaiGas Denies Claims of Environmental Fines After Court Ruling

MangistauMunaiGas (MMG) has issued a formal response to statements made by Member of Parliament Abzal Khuspan, addressing claims concerning environmental inspections and legal proceedings against the company. Previously, reports suggested that the results of environmental checks were being overturned.

Company Responds to MP's Allegations

Member of Parliament Abzal Khuspan had stated that MMG was fined 32 billion tenge in 2024 for discharging waste into the Caspian Sea. However, MangistauMunaiGas has asserted that this information is inaccurate.

MMG's Official Account

According to a press release from the company, the Mangistau Regional Prosecutor's Office conducted an inspection in 2024, resulting in an administrative fine of 30.9 billion tenge against MMG. The alleged violations included discharging Volga water underground and accumulating drilling waste without an environmental permit.

During the subsequent court proceedings, it was determined that the Volga water was used in the technological process, specifically for maintaining reservoir pressure. Furthermore, the court confirmed that drilling waste was not accumulated on-site but was promptly transferred to a specialized organization.

Court Ruling and Conclusion

Consequently, the court found no administrative offense was committed, leading to the case being dismissed and the fine amount being returned to MMG. The company emphasized its commitment to operating in compliance with environmental legislation and principles of social responsibility.

This clarification addresses the public statements and provides the company's perspective on the legal and environmental matters.
