Second Sphinx Discovery Claimed in Egypt After Radar Scans

A groundbreaking claim has emerged from Egypt, suggesting the existence of a second Sphinx statue hidden beneath the Giza plateau. Italian researcher Filippo Biondi has put forth this theory, sparking considerable debate within the global archaeological community.

Biondi's assertion is based on findings from satellite radar scanning, which reportedly revealed a large, symmetrical structure buried beneath the sand. He shared these findings during an appearance on the Matt Beall Limitless podcast.

Ancient Clues and New Data

One of the key pieces of evidence supporting Biondi's hypothesis is the 'Dream Stele,' an artifact dating back to the reign of Egyptian Pharaoh Thutmose IV, around the 14th century BCE. This stele features imagery resembling two sphinxes, which Biondi interprets as a potential indicator of a second, undiscovered monument.

This idea is not entirely new. Egyptologist Bassam El-Shammaa has previously voiced similar theories. However, former Egyptian Minister of Antiquities, Zahi Hawass, has maintained that the area has been thoroughly studied and no evidence of a second Sphinx has been found.

Scientific Scrutiny

Biondi's recent radar data indicates the presence of a substantial structure with vertical shafts and pathways beneath one of the hills on the plateau. This subterranean complex bears a resemblance to structures found beneath the known Great Sphinx.

Despite these new findings, the broader archaeological community remains cautious. The existence of such 'mega-structures' hidden beneath the pyramids has not yet been confirmed by excavation, and Biondi's theory is currently considered an unproven hypothesis.

It is worth noting that Egypt does feature smaller sphinx statues, such as those found along the Avenue of Sphinxes in Luxor. While researchers periodically propose hypotheses about 'second' sphinxes lying beneath the sands, only the iconic Great Sphinx is officially confirmed to exist.
