Shymkent Imposter Posing as Economic Investigator Arrested

Authorities in Shymkent have apprehended a man who was posing as an employee of the Economic Investigation Agency. The incident echoes a previous high-profile case, drawing parallels to the 'Nurbol's ID' scandal.

Deception and Extortion

According to reports, the suspect allegedly introduced himself as an officer from the Department of Economic Investigations. He then proceeded to convince a company director to hand over 25 million tenge.

False Promises

The imposter claimed the money was needed to remove the company from a list of organizations subject to medical facility inspections. This fabricated reason was used to solicit the funds.

Investigation Underway

The individual has since been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. Pre-trial investigations are currently in progress to uncover the full extent of his alleged fraudulent activities.

Echoes of the Past

This event brings to mind the widely publicized 'Nurbol's ID' case from the summer of 2021. In that incident, a video surfaced showing a man using a forged identification, later revealed to be a police officer's video badge. The 'Nurbol' persona resurfaced in May 2022, when an individual posing as an anti-corruption officer attempted to claim land near the Caspian Sea.
