On Monday, August 19, residents of five Kazakh cities may face deteriorating air quality. According to weather forecasters, unfavorable meteorological conditions (NMC) are expected in Almaty, as well as in Atyrau, Aktobe, Oskemen, and Kokshetau, reports infohub.kz.

As explained by Kazhydromet, NMC occur when factors such as calm winds, light breezes, fog, and temperature inversions combine. These conditions contribute to the accumulation of pollutants in the surface layer of the atmosphere, leading to poorer air quality. Specialists warn that during such periods, the risk of adverse health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.

Air pollution levels are influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity, and air temperature. In this regard, residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other pollution sources. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are recommended to keep necessary medications on hand. Specialists advise limiting outdoor physical activity and, if possible, moving workouts indoors.

Earlier it was reported that on August 19, Kazakhstan is expected to experience heat up to +40 °C and heavy rains. Forecasters warn of thunderstorms, hail, and squally winds in most regions of the country.
