The dollar fell below 450 tenge on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange for the first time since June 2024. In trading on September 14, the US currency depreciated by 0.42%, or 1.88 tenge, to 448.9 tenge, according to infohub.kz.
During the session, the dollar's minimum price was 446.75 tenge. Trading volume was relatively average at $440 million. The weighted average rate for the day was 447.94 tenge per dollar. At exchange offices, the dollar is selling for 450.5 tenge.
In its review, the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan noted that the stable exchange rate dynamics reflect the ongoing balance between demand for foreign currency and its supply within the National Bank's operations.
Earlier, Timur Turlov, majority shareholder of Freedom Holding Corp., said that if current high real rates in the Kazakh capital market persist, the dollar could fall below 400 tenge against the national currency.
