The European Union is set to impose its most extensive sanctions package against Russia since 2022, according to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, as reported by infohub.kz.
In an interview with the German publication Die Welt, translated by Gazeta.ru, Kallas stated that the upcoming 22nd package of sanctions will be the largest since 2022. She noted that once adopted, the number of sanctioned Russian individuals and entities will immediately increase by a third. The sanctions pressure is planned to begin this autumn.
It is worth recalling that on July 23, the EU, as part of the 21st package of anti-Russian sanctions, imposed restrictions on 170 organizations and 48 individuals. In particular, the restrictions affected 94 Russian and four foreign banks, as well as 33 credit and financial institutions.
