The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has imposed a hefty fine on the Argentine Football Association (AFA) following the 2026 World Cup, according to infohub.kz.

FIFA's disciplinary committee has concluded its review of incidents involving the Argentine national team at the tournament held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Violations were found under several articles: use of sporting events for non-sporting demonstrations, improper conduct by the team, discrimination and racist insults (including discriminatory chants and gestures by fans), as well as threats to order and security at matches.

In total, the AFA has been fined $321,000 (over 147.5 million tenge at the current exchange rate). Of this amount, $100,000 must be allocated to the implementation of an anti-discrimination plan. Additionally, the Argentine national team will play its next home match with limited attendance—50% of stadium capacity.

Part of the sanctions are suspended due to a probationary period. This applies to the payment of $100,000 and the holding of another match with half the attendance.
