Compass and KO plans to conduct geological exploration for placer gold and other valuable metals at the Kyzylbolat site, located on the lands of the city of Balkhash in the Karaganda Region, reports infohub.kz.

In addition to gold, the company intends to explore for silver and platinum. The area covers 12 blocks with a total area of 28.3 square kilometers. The company hopes to find reserves of valuable metals near the existing deposits of Altynalmas.

The work is planned from April to October 2027 and from April to October 2028 inclusive. Exploration will include digging trenches up to 5 meters deep and up to 2 meters wide. In addition, the company plans to drill 60 boreholes with an average depth of 50 meters each in different parts of the site.

Near the exploration site are the Dolinnoye and Pustynnoye mines of Altynalmas. The nearest settlement to the site is the village of Akzhaidak, located 40 km to the west.

Compass and KO was established at the AIFC in February 2026. It is owned by Economic and Environmental Cooperation Organization Ltd, which is owned by Ge Jian and Dulat Omarov. Ge Jian owns four companies – Asian Natural Food Company, Astana Financial Corporation, and another mining company. He is also the head of seven other legal entities.

Earlier it was reported that Zhanа Mys (translated from Kazakh as "New Copper") will begin geological exploration at a site of 50 blocks in the Ayagoz district of the Abai Region. There, the company, part of Solidcore Resources, hopes to find gold and copper.
