Aidar Amangeldinov, the ultimate owner of Aktobe Oil Equipment Plant (AZNO), became its sole board member in 2025. Over the year in this position, he paid himself 99.2 million tenge, or about 8.3 million tenge per month. According to the financial reporting depository, after taking the helm of his own company, the businessman began earning half as much as his predecessor, reports infohub.kz.
In 2024, the board was solely headed by Gasal Musin, who, incidentally, made it into Forbes' ranking of Kazakhstan's 20 most expensive top managers. At that time, the company paid him 211.3 million tenge for the year (it was this amount that landed him in the Forbes ranking), or about 17.6 million tenge per month. When Amangeldinov took over from Musin on January 15, 2025, he effectively halved the top management's salary, cutting it by 9.3 million tenge per month.
The reduction in management costs coincided with a significant improvement in the plant's financial performance. In 2025, net profit grew by 63.6%, from 1.1 billion to 1.8 billion tenge.
Aidar Amangeldinov controls AZNO through the firm Kazmetalinvest. Until October 2024, the ultimate owners of the plant were Forbes list member Dinmukhamet Idrisov and his wife Magda Idrisova.
Idrisov ranks 17th in the May 2026 ranking of Kazakhstan's 75 richest entrepreneurs, with a fortune of $605 million. He owns Kazakhstan Utility Systems, stakes in Ai Karaul, AltynEx Company, Kundybai Mining, Belogorsky, and Kergetas, as well as Ordabasy Group.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Aidar Amangeldinov, the new majority owner of AZNO, had replaced Gasal Musin as general director.
