The story of Marat Ishankulov, a professor at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University who lost his home to fraudsters and now faces forced eviction, has taken a new turn. Natalya, the buyer of the apartment, contacted the Orda.kz editorial office. She claims she is also a victim of circumstances: she has suffered health problems, fallen into debt due to legal battles, and has been unable to use her legitimately purchased property for nearly a year, reports the website infohub.kz.
Natalya presented her version of events and explained why she believes the seller acted deliberately and that accusations of collusion by social media commentators are slander. She said she found the apartment through a regular advertisement and had no knowledge of any fraudulent schemes. "During the civil proceedings, the court established that the seller personally contacted a real estate agency, signed a contract, and asked for help with the sale. There is a lawyer's request and correspondence with the agent. Other buyers had viewed the apartment before me, and he negotiated the price. This shows that the person was fully and consciously involved in the process," Natalya recounted.
The buyer also refuted claims that the seller was taken to a private psychiatric clinic just before the transaction for a detailed medical report. She stated that the medical evaluation was ordered by the court during the civil case. "Nobody took him anywhere before the deal. The comprehensive forensic psychiatric examination was conducted in April 2026 at the request of the seller's new lawyers. Four state forensic experts issued an official report under penalty of perjury. They concluded that the man was fully aware of his actions, was not susceptible to outside influence, and had a high level of intelligence," Natalya explained.
Natalya added that during personal interactions, the seller came across as an articulate and well-educated person, so she had no doubts about his mental competence. She insists that the law should protect the rights of a bona fide purchaser because she fulfilled all her obligations and transferred the money to the seller's official bank account. Natalya expressed hope that the real perpetrators behind the fraudulent scheme will be caught and punished through the criminal investigation.
