Kazakhstan's Shin-Line Group and South Korean logistics giant Lotte Global Logistics have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint venture. Initial investment is estimated at approximately 1 billion tenge. The new company will provide delivery services for retail chains and online stores, according to infohub.kz.
The document was signed on September 15 in Seoul. The joint venture will be named Shin-Line Lotte Global Logistics. Lotte Global Logistics will hold a 51% stake, while Shin-Line will hold 49%.
The company will operate as a 3PL provider, offering businesses a full range of logistics services: warehousing, transportation, labeling and delivery to customers. The new operator will serve retail chains, discount stores and online shops. Services will be provided both to the Shin-Line group of companies and to third-party clients.
Shin-Line will supply the company with cargo flows and distribution, and will transfer its warehouse facilities and vehicles to it. Lotte Global Logistics, in turn, will contribute international logistics expertise and advanced IT management systems.
The creation of the joint venture is planned for completion in 2026. In 2027, the parties intend to launch its operations, and in 2028–2031 to expand its presence in the 3PL services market. The company plans to develop its activities primarily in Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Karaganda and other regions of Kazakhstan.
A working group of 40 specialists — 20 representatives from each side — has been formed to prepare the project. Lotte Global Logistics is responsible for developing the project together with the Shin-Line team.
The parties plan to discuss interim results in September. A final report with financial indicators and a plan for creating the joint venture is expected in October 2026.
Lotte Global Logistics is an international logistics operator that is part of Lotte Group, one of South Korea's largest conglomerates. The company provides a full range of supply chain management services.
It is worth noting that Shin-Line has also agreed to launch ice cream production in Kazakhstan using Korean technologies. In addition, the company, together with the Korean clinic Hyundae Hospital, wants to build a multi-specialty hospital in Almaty based on South Korean standards.
Shin-Line is known to Kazakhstanis as an ice cream manufacturer. It was founded in 1995. Its brands include the ice cream "Mishka na polyuse," the popsicles "Snegovik" and "Belochka," the ice cream "Bomba," the fruit ice "Dzhusiki" and others. The founders of Shin-Line are Andrey and Natalya Shin.
