Ontustik Construction, a Shymkent-based construction company controlled by businessman Aydin Rakhimbayev, posted a net loss of 3.2 million tenge for 2025, reports infohub.kz.
A year earlier, the company had recorded a net profit of 1.75 billion tenge. The financial result deteriorated amid a sharp decline in construction volumes.
Over the year, Ontustik Construction's revenue fell nearly 4.5 times, from 22.98 billion to 5.14 billion tenge. The cost of work performed decreased from 20.06 billion to 4.32 billion tenge, while gross profit dropped from 2.92 billion to 814 million tenge.
The company's administrative expenses amounted to 1.03 billion tenge, and other expenses to 376.7 million tenge. As a result, the company posted an operating loss of 613.2 million tenge, compared with an operating profit of 1.60 billion tenge in 2024.
Financial income of 812.8 million tenge helped the company move into positive territory before tax (191.4 million tenge), but corporate income tax expenses of 194.6 million tenge ultimately pushed the final result into the red.
The sole participant in Ontustik Construction is the private company General Contractors Group, which through a chain of legal entities is owned by Aydin Rakhimbayev.
In the May 2026 ranking of Kazakhstan's richest businessmen by Forbes, Rakhimbayev ranks 9th with a fortune of $1.1 billion. He is a key shareholder of the investment and construction holding BI Group, which implements residential, industrial, and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan and abroad.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Rakhimbayev's Shymkent company increased its revenue ninefold in 2024.
