A video from Shymkent showing an open-air swimming pool in the middle of a closed courtyard of an ordinary apartment building is gaining popularity on social media. The clip has sparked lively discussions among users, reports infohub.kz.
As noted in the comments, the pool is heated, so children happily swim in it to escape the southern heat. Local residents confirm that the water is always clean and warm.
Many users have dubbed this setup “Shymkent Dubai” and emphasized that having a pool in one’s own courtyard is a dream for any resident of a hot region. Residents of Aktau said that residential complexes with pools and sea views are not uncommon there.
“Great! Well done,” “Yes, this is our courtyard. It’s also heated, the kids in our complex are lucky, and it saves us in this heat,” “In Aktau we have this too. And there’s also the sea. But this is fine too. Better than nothing,” users write.
Previously, many courtyards with pools were also in Almaty, but most of them did not survive the 1990s. It is worth noting that such luxury falls on the shoulders of residents: they have to pay for water and pool maintenance.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle wrote about an unusual courtyard in the center of Shymkent that attracts tourists, photographers, and connoisseurs of Kazakh culture. There, fences, garages, gates, building bases, and even elements of a playground are painted with ornaments from ancient Kazakh carpets, turning the courtyard into a true open-air museum.
